today was definitely one of the weirdest days I've had in a long long time.
I deleted the rest of this post, words just aren't good enough.

glory days
I'm totally psyched about the coming months, which are providing me with a great amount of opportunities to actually stick to my many new years resolutions (I don't think I've ever actually made just one...).
Having a serious internal debate about my new hair scarf, I can't work out if I look kinda cool or if I just look like a dick...I'd post a picture butttt, well, I don't really have the time to atm, let's just say that it looks a little questionable. However, there isn't much that's gonna ruin today for me, so I'm fine with looking a little stupid. How can you have a bad day after waking up to tea, breakfast, sunshine fruit salad and a pile of fresh magazines to rip through? ah the joys of being at home...
'this chaos this calamity, this garden once was perfect'

what an odd little week it has been
my whole week has been a blur of coming and going, starting in london, heading back to sheffield, then back to london, with various journeys in between. With this in mind, I really can't be surprised at how glad I am at the prospect of the week being over, and I have a feeling that this week will be a lot, lot better than last. Not only will I be off to Belgium for the weekend, but I will also (hopefully) have a bursary by then (and as a result of that-food, yay!). Further, my tickets to amsterdam have been booked (albeit one day later than I intended, oops) and my plans for the rest of the year are all falling into place, not to mention the fact that I saw the best friend today, always a good thing.
So, as it is one of those rare occasions where I look back on my shitty week with a somewhat optimistic attitude, allow me to share a few of the nice and happy things that I've just found lurking around on my lovely old toshiba.

oh friday, i've waited so long for you to arrive.
I actually cannot be happier that most of my week is over, it's actually killed me a little bit inside.
after working a total of 10 hours, making coffee and ferrying lunches up and down the art gallery, my body is begging me to sleep, but alas, i have work to do, and of course sleep is out of the question right now. But it's not all doom and gloom, although it's quite heavy on the gloom side...I finally found out why the university have given me fuck all this year...they lost my bank details.
without the aid of a trusty cup of tea, as i have no milk, i'm attempting to forget the stress of the day and focus on the good things. Thankfully, there's quite a few of those around.

'the moving waters...
at their priestlike task
of pure ablution round earth's human shores'
I wish I had the ability to write something as beautiful as Keats.
failing that, the ability to construct something as enchanting as this would be just as good.
I'm going to achieve something to this degree, if it's the last thing I do, or at least achieve some kind of enlightened perspective on life, and I have a feeling of just how to do it.

and you go home, and you cry and you want to die.
really forgot how much I love london, even if it is all rainy and required a horrific coach journey to get down here. It's not even the things I do whilst here, it's just nice a nice place to be, chavs and all (although I wouldn't mind it if they just vanished one day, it would certainly be a lot quieter...).
thanks to the fact that I'm on my lovely old toshiba, I can't post any of the mass of pictures I've been wanting to put on here, which sucks, so this is a very wordy post, like nearly all of them...oops. Actually, I shouldn't really be on here anyway...If I'm going to write anything today, it should be my essays on Rwandan genocide and gnosticism in medieval history, but oh well, history can suck it.
On a lighter note, today I purchased some new books, which of course are the most important things in my life, ever, even above pokemon (albeit only slightly). I'm also gearing up for a large figurative language session with good old Keats, my favourite.

'there will be plenty of burning this semester, don't you worry'
it's one of those miserable sunday nights where nearly all blog posts are about something depressing, what is it with sundays that makes us all so gloomy? perhaps it's the approach of valentines day, which I've never really cared about either way but I guess some people do...I've spent the whole weekend doing pretty much nothing, so I guess I can't really complain as I'm probably contributing to spreading feeling of gloom.
on a lighter note, my mum finally learnt how to use skype, which meant I could converse with my dog for the first time in a while. I'll admit, it was quite strange and I'm glad I didn't leave my door open during the 'conversation', but it was rather fun, and has led to my purchasing of a ticket to london for next weekend. This week was officially the first week of the spring semester and I have to say that it's looking pretty good so far! One of my seminar tutors is a viking specialist and the subjects themselves are quite alright. And to further my happiness, a date was set for the premier of season four of true blood, a mere 119 days away (not that I'm counting or anything...)
For anyone interested in fit women or fashion, check out this months issue of W Magazine, which features a wonderful editorial of Mila Kunis.

righty-ho.
so my week of freedom has finally arrived! and what better way to spend it than doing nothing at all? For the first time in a long time I did actually consider going out with my flatmates this week, but then I realised that that would ruin my current position as the hermit of sheffield. Although, I do have (vague and rather boring) plans this week, but much to my disappointment my pay check this month consisted of a mere £11.70, so maybe a trip to the many vintage stores of yorkshire is off the cards?
The only exciting part of my week was when I finally finished my exams, something I had been waiting for for a long long time, and eventually occurred on Tuesday morning. Although I've probably failed most of my modules, I do feel good to actually have nothing to do.
well, aside from going to work, and preparing for next weeks seminars :|
hopefully my indulgent internet purchase will be delivered soon, and the minute it does I'll whop a picture of it on here as it will mark the momentous occasion of my first designer buy! (I think, excluding shoes...)
goodnight world :]
