Bonjour.

So.
I considered making a new blog; fresh start and all that. In fact, I did make a new blog, but it just didn't really feel very right, starting it all over again, so here I am with a very very late post on my very very old blog, which I'm hoping to improve.

Since I last blogged on here, everything's changed.

  • A level results day came and went, and I am now officially a student of the University of Sheffield.
  • I finally visited Paris, which has been a wish of mine for many many years.
  • I got myself a job at Coffee House, which isn't so bad.
  • Oh yes, and I got myself two lovely new tattoos.

So, blogger, I am back.

Freedom doesn't quite taste how I expected

Ever since I began study leave I've been aching to blog again, but in all honesty, I don't really know what to write. My final exam was a disaster, and also the one I worked the hardest for. The questions were nothing like the sort I've ever done before and was on a subject I'd barely even heard discussed in class. I'm fairly sure that I won't be getting where I want to go with what will probably be a C in history, or a B if I'm really lucky.

I admit, my choices have been challenging, but I honestly did work hard, so it really does suck that I'm now in this position. I aim to spend the  rest of the summer making myself better at everything, just incase I get lucky and they actually do want me. So for the next couple of months the meaning of this blog will become distorted and it will merely become a place for me to rant (something I do a lot, unfortunately) and let out whatever's on my mind.

Also, I'm learning Russian, which could be fun.

Reflections

so now that I'll be leaving London soon (by soon I mean about 5 months...) I'm feeling a little nostalgic, and also rather sad.

and it's Tuesday...

Recap, anyone?
so, last week I dotted around here and there, completely weighed down with coursework so I was unable to do a real post. My camera's only just been charged so I have no pictures of that wonderful wedding fair I went to on Thursday - which sucks, but I'll make sure I bring it with me (charged and all) next time.

I've been obsessing over prom outfits recently, and I'm planning to get something prom-y from the Outnet's sale or from that nice little vintage shop when I go on holiday on Saturday. But if that fails, I've got my eye on several other dresses that would be more than sufficient..

Lipsy; £60

love label @very.co.uk; £55

Babydoll dress by Boutique @ Topshop.com; £75

So, there are the final three. Ideas?
I wish I could wear three dresses to prom :(

Travelling&Tights

Why hello there,

Yesterday I travelled up to Nottingham, and spent the night in a lovely little hotel, which was splendid. I went on a university tour today and it seems very nice, now all I need to do is decide between Nottingham and Sheffield, ooh.

TIGHTS

My wardrobe is in desperate need of a sprucing up, and I feel that tights would be the best way to start, oui oui?

<  Be baroque pearl tights at mytights, £49.95 (slightly beyond my price range unfortunately, but I'm hoping to find something similar?)

perhaps these are a little more suitable?
although I'm quite afraid that my wardrobe has gone flower mad!

Printed lace floral tights at Topshop, £15

:)

oh yes, has anybody seen Dorothy Perkins' new range? here's a few things I plan on buying as soon as I get some kind of cash :)

Cream round toe high courts, £38

cream embroidered flutter top, £30

Engraved clock necklace, £15

I mustn't spend any more time on blogging now, I have a coursework deadline in a week!

ta taa!

Futures.

Yesterday I made my way to Sheffield university, which was pleasantly surprising, and not too busy and chaotic.
but, more importantly...I found my new favourite shop: COW.
Unfortunately, I didn't have my bankcard with me, but I did manage to pick up a few little things, which was lovely. I have now added my vintage acid wash shorts and my super cheap jumper to my wardrobe, and emptied about 50 things to make some more room.
I didn't get what I was looking for though, which was a prom dress. I think, if I don't find one in the next month, I'm going to have to make it, which will be horrifically stressful during exam time, but oh well, it'll be worth it.

Time for some English Literature.

for we are like trees in the snow

There is something pagan in me that I cannot shake off. In short, I deny nothing, but doubt everything. - Lord Byron

It has been an eventful week.

Introducing Freja Beha Erichsen, possibly my new favourite person.
I stumbled across her whilst searching for someone that had a tattoo similar to the one I wanted, and I've been following her ever since, she really is quite cool.
I got the tattoo done on Saturday, and it was surprisingly pain-free, although an allergic reaction to the tape did cause a bit of pain, but oh well. May the addiction begin. I've already got a rather large list of potential ink, including that beautiful little swallow that I've been chasing down.

Other than that, I've spent most of my week pottering around not really doing much with my little life, although I received some good news on Saturday from my mother who has volunteered to pay for my break in Paris - lovely stuff.

Au revoir, for now :)

Alice in Wonderland

I was so busy moaning about my appearance that I forgot to mention the best part of my weekend - Friday.

So, I arrived at Stevenage train station at approximately 5.23, greeted by my best best best friend, miss Amie Louise Bell. With a two hour wait ahead of us, we head down to F&B's for some spagbol, dalek balls and maybe just a few margaritas. And then, there was AIW.

Well, I think it was surprising. I think we all knew that Burton could never produce a masterpiece under the control  of Disney. The constraints were heavy, and Burton's style conflicts so much with disney's that it was never really going to come out well. Burton's background in animation really came to light, with spellbinding forests and creatures. HBC's acting was sublime, and of course Johnny Depp, although given way too much screen time, was excellent, with one of the most convincing scottish accents I have ever heard.
Other than that, it was a mish mash of good and terrible.

That'll teach disney to repeat mistakes. You go, Timothy!
