You're not coming home tonight
...so I totally lied about being a better blogger. Sorry, exams are crushing my soul.
Saturday, 28 May 2011
oo, hello there.
I know, I know, I never actually blog properly anymore (have I ever?). But at least this time I (kind of) have an excuse. My exams have finally and I've spent the past few weeks compensating for the fact that I've barely been to any lectures. I'm half way through, with a week until my next one, so I can finally do fun things like sit in my room and be a massive loser (which I do exceptionally well, of course ;]).
So here we go, here is my solemn promise not to be a massive blogging douche, although I can't promise that I'll be very interesting, all I've done this week is...nothing really.

bad day
hasn't it been an amazingly shit month?
and with my exams starting in less a few days it's become even more rubbishy.
so yeah, end of post. I'm going to now...
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, I'm totally going to do a post on Liberty's new collaboration with Nike soon, maybe tomorrow if I have time. It has to be done, it's just so beautiful :')
also, maybe I'll have my new tattoo by then...although I probably won't as it takes months for me to work up the courage to do anything involving needles.

la vie en rose.
It's 2.20 in the morning and sleep escapes me. I have no idea why.
Perhaps it's because I haven't actually done anything worthwhile today. But surely it's too late to start something now, right? But let's not worry, for when tomorrow (/later today) comes it shall be a better day, and I shall make sure of it. I'm having a 'nice bab night' with the wife, which always cheers me up on gloomy days.
On a cheerier note, the new Charlaine Harris book comes out very very soon (and I'm talking single figures now) and that will almost certainly make me insane with happiness, I've waited nearly a year for a new installment. Further, I also have a large pile of books that need reading, and some of them are even educational. My upcoming Introduction to Advanced Literature exam gives me an excuse to finally read through the whole of The Tempest; something I've been meaning to do for ages. I've also got some good material on medieval history to tear through, which in my opinion is hardly a chore.
So, yeah, that's it really. I'm just trying to fill some time before I go to sleep, which will probably take a while, for some reason. Life is good, despite my constant moaning. Although, I still wish I was a bunny rabbit (that somehow has a really fun life and doesn't get run over/eaten/taken as a pet)
I'm going to blog more, the minute I start doing more interesting things with my life.
Btw, that isn't me being pessimistic, the current dullness of my life is a result of my choice to spend my Easter holidays at work, so yeah...

I like my vampires tall, blonde and viking.
okay so this was originally going to be a long-winded philosophical post about life, but then I started googling true blood things and I realised that Dead Reckoning is coming out very very soon, so I now proclaim this post to be entirely true blood orientated.
possibly another reason for the swedish hunk all over my blog tonight is that I watched Thor earlier, and I stand by my previous statements; IT WOULD BE BETTER WITH ALEXANDER SKARSGARD.
although his dad was in it, so maybe that's not toooooo bad.
But yes, from the season four teaser trailer set:
vulnerable, amnesiac Eric is a good break from over-confident, slightly prickish Eric. Both are still sexy though, and I would have either, any day of the week:)

I appreciate this much more than the average human being.
also, I know it's not really relevant to anything but I got my tragus pierced, which in my opinion is exciting (and daring, I was fucking shitting it.) so here's a picture of my beautifully bloody ear (with a lovely chav stud in)
salvete!

finalement, :]
finally, for the first time since I arrived in Sheffield, I've actually done some of my work more than 24 hours before it's due. Although it was only done something like 30 hours before, i'm still mega happy about it. Also, I've just realised that my B key isn't working probably, so perhaps what I've written isn't all that eligible...oh well. So yeah, I'm happy, I got myself a present, I'll whop a picture up when I've washed it (I can't wear clothes that don't smell of me/home).
yes, things could be better. but if we always thought that way then the world would be a depressing place.

ignorance is bliss.
good evening/morning...
it appears that my recent job woes have led to my losing the ability to sleep, which I honestly am not all that sad about, but it does leave me with very little to do at this hour.
I really have to sort my life out, it's getting to be quite pathetic. I've become a horrible apathetic slobs that spends the whole day moping around just being generally rubbish at life. Don't blame it all on me though, I have made a few efforts, and they very nearly worked right up until the person I was about to tell my excellent plan to ignored me. as you do. and then it happened again. It's like people are programmed to ignore me right up until the very moment where I'm too busy to talk to them. Why world? Why? Is it because you want me to be completely isolated when my life's fucking up bit by bit? or am I just lacking in actual friends?
allow me to correct myself, it actually happened three times. What lovely people I socialise with.
But all is not lost, I have a plan and like most great people I intend not to follow it at all.
so i guess this is goodbye to the world as i know it right now.
i'll see you all at the finish line motherfuckers.

swish and flick
I'm feeling ridiculously apathetic today, let's hope tomorrow's better.
In light of recent events across europe and asia I have realised my desire to explore the world in more depth than I am currently planning to do. So I have postponed my original plan of teaching efl in sweden in favour of working for a year then seeing all of the places I've longed to explore.
apologies for the cloud of gloom surrounding my blog; I promise that once things improve (so when I get a better job...which will hopefully be soon), I will attempt to be slightly more positive.

Yes.
All experience is an arch wherethrough gleams that untravelled world whose margin fades for ever and for ever when I move
Alfred Lord Tennyson
call me crazy but right now the temptation to drop out of university and move far far away is overwhelming. Not because I have any particular issue with uni, or even my life in England for that matter (for once), but I can't help but think I'm kind of wasting my time and perhaps...my potential? I was once told that I was destined to be exactly where I am today and that university was the best place for someone like me to flourish. I'm having my doubts. My mission has always been to eliminate any barriers and limits that one usually has in life, consequently realising the true potential and beauty of the world - can I really do that in an establishment which restricts me so? And I don't mean mentally, I go to one of the best universities in the country and their ability for unlocking hidden mental talent is amazing, no I don't mean that at all. It's the physical restriction which I feel is holding me back. It's clear to anyone with the faintest idea of psychology that our environment impacts on our potential as human beings and I can't help but feel that I'd be more productive elsewhere...alone and away from the pressures of social conformities, friends, families etc etc. And at the same time that's the very last thing I want.
The joys of being an overtired, overworked, overactive person. Add the genetic bipolar disorder and you've got yourself a brilliant cocktail which could either turn out to be brilliant or an utter disaster. Yeah, we'll see how that goes.
On a lighter note, and I'm assuming that anyone that looks at this has probably skipped that little rant up there...
here's a blog for you to look at if you're ever feeling sorry for yourself.
now don't take this lightly because I'm not a fan of sob stories, but this blog is genuinely good for the soul, and this woman has to be the only person in the world to see the (albeit few) funny sides of cancer.
Meet Sophie Beresiner. You may recognise the name from Look, as she's the beauty editor, hence the many posts on all things beauty related. But seriously, check it out if you're ever feeling so, and this will remind you to keep a positive outlook on life (she also has millions of tips for sprucing yourself up)

when we live such fragile lives, it's the best way to survive.
extremely happy to be back in enfield.
my life has been to hectic to even try to explain, but let's hope that next week is a little better.
super huge post coming soon, which I actually wrote 3 weeks ago, exciting, oui?;)

I wish I was a bunny
I could tell you about my past two days of illness believing their was a giant rabbit in my bathroom which I could only escape from with a piece of celery in the non existent pockets of my yoga pants, or I could tell you of the hideous amount of work I have yet to do, or perhaps about the fact that I made several rather lavish purchases today, or I could just post a picture of myself, complete with bunny ears, being, you guessed it, a bunny.
for the record, I'm half bunny, half doe.
oh and btw, I'm changing my life tomorrow.
but I'll still be a bunny.

I have only a beast's heart.

so once again i'm going through that ridiculous thing that each week i label a 'mid-life crisis', despite the fact that i know it isn't, it's just me, being me. I'm half way between 'fuck it' and the epiphany moment where you begin to try really hard in your life. This isn't one of those 'help me' posts, no no. This isn't even a bad time. This is simply a means for me to express my utter confusion in the matter of, well, the world really.
I'm finding myself in that kind of mood where you simply do not care. Results came and went today, and for the first time in my life I honestly didn't give a shit, without sounding obnoxious, I knew I passed, everyone who passed knew they'd pass, I mean, it's pretty fucking hard to fail at the moment without actually realising it. So honestly, why do people care so much?
I'm going to blame this weird state of mind on literature, like I always do, because literature steals my mood and plays with it as it pleases at the most inconvenient of times. The combination of the sheer allure of literature and my ridiculously addictive personality means that I really should take care when divulging in this slightly pretentious pleasure of mine, but of course I don't, literature isn't meant to be taken in doses.
(I just realised that a few people reading this, assuming of course that someone in the world actually takes the time to read these ridiculous ramblings, could perhaps get the idea that I'm referring to my own literary works? no, I'm not that full of myself, and my tastes are far too high for that)
Ironically, I've neglected my essay on open form to write this, the ultimate piece in open form, albeit prose rather than poetry, I am finding it quite amusing that I have ultimately ended up doing more literature work right here, you sly dog you!
weird and boring rant over, aren't you lucky?
